Saturday December 5th  ParentsConnect - SCRAPBOOKING
The purpose of this group is to get parents together, without the kids, to establish closer relationships so that
we can better support one another as parents.

We had a great productive time!

Please join us at our next workshop.

They go like this:

We will be scrapbooking together So, we decided to do it for the parents (sorry, children will be another time) on Saturday, Nov. 7.
It will be an all day affair, but you can come and go as you like.   It is not a fundraiser, so the charge
will be only to cover the costs.

This will be an event for all levels of scrapbookers and lifebookers.  There will not be any formal instruction or craft planned,
but plenty of experienced scrappers will be on hand if the beginners or anyone has questions.  You don't have to do any type
of theme.  It's just a space for people to get together for the day or part of a day and scrap your heart out!

If you are new to scrapbooking, you can start by organizing your pictures or select a group of pictures that you want to scrap.
For those of you who have not made any scrapbooks or lifebooks about China and are interested in working on them Nov. 7
(although there is NO preferred theme that day), you may want to look at this site:
http://www.scrapand tell.com/ searchlayouts. asp?PageThemeID= 19

There will be people working on China books and many other things, to emphasize ALL, not just Chinese, scrapping themes will be great.
People will also be working on family vacations, graduation, etc.

Our kite festival, mooncake baking and lantern social were fantastic! Thanks for your participation.

A GALA NIGHT AT SHAMIAN ISLAND 3

The proceeds of over $1100 will go to Love Without Boundaries and Half the Sky for children’s medical  and foster care. Details of the
specific projects will follow.

January 2009 The Year of the Ox

FASHION SHOWS WERE A HIT!

LAUREN, CARLY, MEILYN, CECELIA, NATALIE, JULIA, LIA, MALI, MEILIN, JAYDE, HANNAH and LILY were all amazing fashion models! The audiences were shocked to find out that the children were as young as 3 years old, as they were just as poised as the oldest, which was 13 years old.
The children did not just walk down the runway looking pretty. They gained knowledge on following directions, responsibility and the ability to go out in front of an audience and be comfortable. At the same time, the girls had a lot of fun and made new friends.

We do not ask for any money to do these shows and the children all know this. However, some places choose to give a contribution to FCC. Another valuable lesson that the children learned was doing good deeds for the elderly and for those less fortunate than themselves.

When the shows were over for the season, we celebrated the children and how much that people in the audiences enjoyed their shows, along with their companionship, that they made donations totaling $75.00 for the children in orphanages in China, waiting to be adopted or needing medical assistance. The children were so proud of themselves, just as their families and I were.

The children never cease to amaze.  Thanks to the girls who participated for making another year of The Families With Children From China fashion shows such a wonderful experience!

Thanks to Janis Martin for all her hard work!

Chinese School Celebrates Chinese New Year
The CNY Chinese School Spring Festival Party at Eagle Middle School was held on January 31. The performances included dances by the children and adults from the CNY school and a special performance by several of the FCCCNY families, who sang Nuan Nuan De Shou.  As we have done in the past, FCCCNY provided the beverages for all attending.  Thanks to those of you who helped serve.
